Derek T. Marshall

Derek T. Marshall is a business, real estate, and estate planning attorney.He advises businesses and their owners on the various legal issues and provide legal services that commonly arise in today’s business climate, including: business formation and planning, employment and independent contractor issues, contract negotiation and drafting, real and personal property leases, business restructuring, corporate and partnership governance, financing, business sales and acquisitions.

Derek also enjoys assisting individuals and families, whether their estates are large or small, properly plan for the future through developing personalized estate plans using various estate planning instruments and techniques, including advanced tax planning strategies. 

In addition, Derek has assisted clients in negotiating and drafting the necessary legal documentation in connection with the sell and purchase of real estate and complex leases. 

He earned his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Oregon School of Law located in Eugene, Oregon, and his B.A. degree in History from Brigham Young University.  While at the University of Oregon, he was a senior editor for the Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation and served as tax research assistant.

Derek was raised and attended school in Orem, Utah, and has returned to Orem to live with his wife, Chelsea, and their daughter. In addition to spending time with his family, Derek’s hobbies include playing basketball, softball, and golf; working in his yard and garden; and watching his BYU Cougars and Oregon Ducks play on the gridiron and the basketball court.
